Aria's memory, explained: what it remembers and what it forgets
Memory is what makes Aria feel like a companion instead of a chatbot. Here's exactly how much it retains, and the limits we built in on purpose.
By The Mindbriz Team
The single most common question we get about Aria isn't about features — it's 'does it actually remember what I told it?' The honest answer is yes, within limits we set on purpose, and it's worth explaining exactly where those limits sit.
What Aria retains
- Patterns across your check-ins — sleep trends, mood trends, habits you've mentioned struggling with.
- Context from recent conversations, so it doesn't ask what it already knows.
- Things you've explicitly told it matter to you — a stressful project, an upcoming event, a goal you're working toward.
What it deliberately doesn't do
Aria does not build a permanent psychological profile that follows you forever regardless of what you'd want forgotten. You can clear its memory of a specific topic, and deleting your account deletes what it remembers with it. Memory is a feature you control, not a black box accumulating forever.
A companion that remembers everything and forgets nothing isn't intimacy. It's surveillance with better manners.
The design goal was never maximum retention — it was retention that makes the conversation feel continuous without making you feel filed away. That balance is why Aria can say 'your sleep's been short again this week' without ever feeling like it's keeping a dossier.
